Should have seen it in the 90s
"Riveting! Cutting-edge! Unique!" may have been apt descriptors of this show when it premiered in the late 80s, but no longer.
Honestly, watching grown men catch marshmallows in their mouths from across a stage IS impressive and entertaining. Beyond that, prepare yourself for a night of boys splashing on water-topped drums, some ASMR cereal-crunching, a scatological dining-skit, and a spit-paintings (you read that right) that may have once felt like a transgressive poke-in-the-eye of the late-80s art-world but now fell boring.
If it was once a night of unexpected weirdness, it has since matured into a "world-wide phenomenon" designed to lighten the wallets of unsuspecting tourists.
Bald-headed men wearing blue latex face paint and unblinking stares DOES make for a dramatic visual. My advice, buy the poster—skip the show!
Experience Spoiled by bad audience members
The show was not what I thought it would be. I thought there would be a lot more music and “instrument” playing. The scenes between the music were ok, some were awkward. The audience members pulled up on stage were not fun so those parts lacked humor. They need a way to screen audience members to get people who they know will be entertaining once on stage. The blue men are very talented, but this particular night lacked humor! The management is young and afraid to address problems with audience members! A group of 13 people sat across from us. All the adults in the group were already drunk before the show and kept drinking during the show. Families around me complained 3 times, but management did nothing every time, but tell them to be quiet. The manager was clearly afraid to kick them out or even split up the group. I couldn’t pay attention because the drunk group was so loud and very inappropriate. It was uncomfortable and unsafe; I thought a fight would break out because so many others were mad at them. If they are going to serve drinks then they need security to bounce people who are too drunk.
